If you require on the day treatment, our urgent care team run a triage service twice a day. Our urgent care service is run as a telephone triage- please be aware that we cannot take walk-in appointments. All issues will be dealt with, initially, over the telephone, but if the clinician feels you require a face to face appointment, they will arrange this with you.
Our Urgent Care team usually comprises of a Duty GP, Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers, and other members of staff such as a Paramedic Practitioner or Physician Associate.
Please be aware that our reception team will ask for a brief outline of the problem to ensure that those people who require treatment sooner are dealt with in an appropriate length of time. You might also be signposted to a more appropriate service, for example physiotherapy, pharmacy or dentist. Please telephone between 08:00 – 11:00 and 14:30 – 16:00. This is a limited service so we advise calling as soon as possible.
If you require urgent medical advice outside of our hours, there are other services available:
- In an emergency, always dial 999
- If you are unsure where to go or require advice, please contact NHS 111 either by telephone or online.
- For minor injuries like cuts, bites, infected wounds, broken bones or fractures, please attend the walk-in service at St. Marys Hospital Minor Injuries Unit. They run between 08:00 – 20:00 Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays. You can contact them on 0333 200 1822.
