Red Weather Warning

The Met Office has issued a red weather warning for much of the UK, which warns of “serious illness or danger to life.”.

A heatwave poses several health risks such as dehydration, overheating, heat exhaustion and heatstroke. People over 75, young children, and those with serious or long term illnesses are likely to be more vulnerable. Please follow NHS guidance and consider:

  • Look out for those who may struggle
  • Stay cool indoors
  • Close curtains on rooms that face the sun
  • Drink plenty of fluids and avoid excess alcohol
  • Never leave anyone in a parked vehicle, especially infants or young children
  • Try to keep out of the sun between 11:00-15:00
  • Apply sunscreen regularly
  • If you are travelling, take water with you
